ACTIVITY SESSIONS
Taking part in physical activity really benefits the over 60’s as it helps to increase bone health and strength, reducing the risk of injuries and fractures associated with a fall. It also helps to preserve independent living and prevent age-related decline in strength/balance and co-ordination, plus it’s a great way to socialise.

Benefits of visiting an activity session when you are over 60:

• Strengthens muscles

• Improves balance

· Helps to maintain a healthy weight

• Reduces your risk of falls

Our Carers Service offers information, advice and practical support to help you in your caring role.

You might not think of yourself as a carer, but we recognise you as one if you help look after a family member or friend without payment. This may be full-time, part-time or occassionally.

The aim of the service is to be available to carers in ways that are convenient for them.

Three dedicated Carers Advisers attend venues across the borough to offer in-person information and advice. They may also be able to make home visits, depending on the carer’s need. We can also assist by email and telephone.

Our advisers:

  • attend Community Hub sessions at four Hounslow libraries
  • hold information tables at West Middlesex Hospital twice a month
  • attend other community events where they can meet carers who need support

As well as advice and support, the service holds regular Carers Cafe meetups in local cafes and organises social events and outings.

You can keep up to date with events. You can either join the mailing list or email us to add you:

You can also join our WhatsApp group.

Carer Cafes

The Carers Support Service hosts a Carers Cafe, which takes place every week at one of four cafes in the borough.

The meet-ups give carers the opportunity to take a break, share experiences and knowledge with others, enjoy a free hot drink and chat with one of the Carers Advisers.

We have chosen cafes that are accessible and easy to get to by public transport. We know it may be difficult to leave the person you care for, and so they are welcome to come along too.

Cafes will take place on a Tuesday between 11am and 1pm. No need to book, just come along for a relaxing break. Stay for a quick coffee or for the full two hours.

The Carers Cafes are at:
